This month’s special guest is Amy Madison, Executive Director of the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation.
Since January 2014, Amy Madison has served the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC), a Type B organization funded through a ½ cent sales tax. As Executive Director, she works with a four-member staff to recruit and retain companies, assist with workforce education, and develop marketing for the City of Pflugerville – recently named by the U.S. Census as the third fastest growing city in the United States with a population of 50,000 or more. During her tenure, the PCDC has successfully recruited 1,791 jobs across 35 notable projects
Beyond recruitment, Amy oversees expansion projects, land sales, infrastructure projects and leases in the One Thirty Business Park, a 167-acre industrial park developed by the PCDC. Under her direction, the PCDC has completed the sale of over 60 acres brining approximately 1 million square feet of office, commercial and industrial flex space that has generated over 500 jobs and will total more than 900 jobs at final buildout. More recently, she assisted with the recruitment of Typhoon Texas to operate the PCDC’s 24-acre water park that opened May 2017, which now operating in their second year, has managed to double seasonal attendance. She also played an instrumental role in the PCDC Board of Directors adopting the first Comprehensive Economic Development Strategic Plan in January 2017 – a three year program that has already attained a 95% completion and is slated for updating in 2019.
Before joining the PCDC, Amy served three years as economic development director for the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce. Through the efforts of leading a strategic plan for the region, she successfully raised $4M from partners in a two-county area that lead to the foundation of the Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) where she subsequently served as CEO for three years. Previous to that, she served seven years as economic development director for the City of Schertz where she helped garner a 50-year supply of water and established a new industrial park.
Amy received a bachelor’s degree from Phillips University and completed a master’s degree at the University of Oklahoma. She is an OU Economic Development Institute graduate, a Certified Economic Development Professional (CEcD), a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) and a Certified Public Manager (CPM). She is a member of International Asset Management Council, TeamTexas, Texas One, Opportunity Austin, Texas Economic Development Council and the International Economic Development Council committee for awards. Currently, she serves on the board for CleanTX and the A-T Children’s Project Board as Vice President. As an advocate for A-TCP, she and her family have raised over $2.5 million to fund research on ataxia telangiectasia, a rare childhood disease.
