This month’s episode of Economic Development Secrets features Kristin Reese, Executive Director of the Cleveland County Economic Development Partnership (CCEDP). Kristin joined CCEDP in 2006. As a part of a talented and productive staff of three [plus, one awesome intern], Kristin leads the organization and Cleveland County in all aspects of economic development strategy. She and her team are focused on: business development and recruitment of new industry, land acquisition/product development, workforce development, retail development, marketing, business retention/expansion and project management from concept to completion.
Kristin was introduced to the economic development profession when an opportunity to work in the community where she was raised [Cleveland County] emerged. Seemingly knowing nothing about economic development and not heeding her parent’s advice, Kristin rebelled and took a leap into new professional territory. Much to her surprise [and her parent’s relief], her diverse educational and professional background which included political science, manufacturing, marketing, promotional advertising and finance, provided her a unique perspective in her practice. Eleven years later, Kristin is still passionately promoting the Cleveland County, NC community.
